Special Holiday 2008 HypnoBirthing Class

Waiting for 2009 babies to come!

November 2008 HypnoBirthing Class

Saturday evening class

Thursday evening class
From Crystallin and Ben
I just wanted to let you know that Ben and I had our baby. We had a boy - Bryson Benjamin. He wa born Dec 8 at 7:34pm - a whole month early! I guess he was not listening when you warned us not to have our water break. Everything I learned in HypnoBirthing was a BIG help! My water broke around 11:30pm on Sunday, Dec 7, and we headed to the hospital around 1am. Unfortunately, since labor did not come on its own after trying for 6 hours with our doula and the midwives to bring it on naturally, I was given pitocin. However, using the breathing and relaxing I learned, I was able to give birth vaginally and with no pain medication. But, man, was it intense!! Bryson was 6 lbs and 10 oz and 21 inches. We had to stay a few extra days at UCSD since he was a late term preemie, but he is doing great and gaining weight like a champ! Breastfeeding is also going great. We did use a breast shield for the few couple weeks, but we have stopped using that and his suck is super-strong now. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I would be happy to bring Bryson to one of your classes and share our birth story. I think it is a good example of what happens when things do not go just as you had planned or envisioned, and that even if you are administered pitocin, you can still have the pain medication-free childbirth that you want. I hope all is well with you and your family. We wish you guys a happy and prosperous new year. Take care - Crystallin
From Abby who witnessed a birth of her fellow classmate Elisabeth by supporting her
Hi France! I just wanted to tell you (I am sure you heard from Elisabeth) but she had a baby girl! I actually got to be in the labor room with her and it was the most amazing event in the world! It was mesmerizing! I loved it! She did absolutely wonderful and her baby girl was just so calm and so adorable!!! I think you did an amazing job teaching class and I got to see the results of HypnoBirthing first hand and I have to admit, I am so excited about my birth and have so much confidence in my body and my baby! What a wonderful way to bring a baby into the world!! I hope you are well and have a yummy thanksgiving! I will send you an email when James gets home and I am hoping its still ok to come into a couple of your holiday classes to catch Jamie up! Sincerely, Abby

Hi France, I gave birth to Hayden Lucas last week at 34 weeks. The Birth Plan changed quite a bit as I was not able to give birth at the birth center and was transferred to labor and delivery, however, Jake & I used our HypnoBirthing and went into labor about 10pm and delivered at 9:34am. I was able to make it through using our deep relaxation techniques without any pain medications. I did have some pitocin at the end after I was complete because my contractions were getting further apart. Just wanted to let you know. Erin & Jacob

We had our baby boy on August 25th! I went from 3 to 8 cms in 2.5 hours and pushed him out within 15 minutes! Breathing was hard but I used the breathing technique to push him out. It helped me avoid hyperventilating because i really had no breaks in between contractions between contractions because everything was so fast and intense! He weighed 7 lbs 8.5 oz and was 20 inches long. Thanks for everything! Jessica and Dominick

Emily Catherine was born on Thursday 08/21 at 8:17am - all natural. At birth she was 7 lbs 6 oz and 20 inches long. She's beautiful and very sweet and has blue eyes and sandy blonde hair. She's very healthy, strong and relaxed. Her heart rate was so strong throughout the birth! On my chest, right after the birth, she lifted her chin up all the way so our eye could meet. I'm doing great - feeling so wonderful and happy she's born. We're both so ecstatic. Thank you!!! HypnoBirthing works!! So glad I took your class. Best Start was a great experience.

From Lani & Devan who took Thursday group class
Just wanted to send out an announcement of the newest arrival to the Dagley family. His name is Jordan Travis, born on Friday, May 2nd at 5:40am. He tipped the scales at a whopping 5 lbs 9 oz and was 17 in long. he came to us 4 weeks ahead of schedule. I hope you are doing well! We sure are, Jordy is such a bundle of joy and makes me so stinkin happy! Can't wait for you all to meet him. If you haven't heard, everyone was quite worried about him (being a 'late preemie') at the hospital. They worried about his lungs, his breathing rate, and especially his weight. It is so hard! I don't know why the little guy decided to come early. I'm sure glad he did, though because having Devan aruond has been the best! Our little family has grown so close together! So, on Tuesday we went to the Doctor for his first visit. We got great news! He gained 4 oz, and was only 2 oz short of his birth weight!!! I cried, I was so happy. I have been feeding him on demand, whether it is every half hour or 1-2 hours, just hoping to get extra weight on him so he can be healthy and strong. We have constantly bug him to keep him awake while he eats. He's a little sleeper! We're so lucky to have this new bundle of joy in our family. Lani

Thursday evening class

From Denise & David who took Saturday group class

I hope you are doing well. I have been meaning to email you...David and I had a very positive birth experience at Scripps Memorial, and we are so thrilled with our baby daughter, Olivia. We worked with Elien Alexander as our birth doula...she was such a nice presence and it was a wonderful treat that she could also do massage as well as the HypnoBirthing support. I had to be induced and so it was a little different experience, but we were focused on being flexible and that the health of our daughter would be the most important thing. The HypnoBirthing techniques were very helpful, and I think listening to the birth affirmations in the weeks prior to my labor and delivery was also very helpful. The birth ball was great, and since Olivia's birth holding her and bouncing with her on the ball is a sure way to calm her down. I lasted until 8cm and then chose to get an epidural. The birth experience was so profound, and David's touch was the first human tough Olivia ever felt. Olivia is a very calm and happy baby, and we love looking back at our positive experience. I hope everything went well with others in our class and also with your own birth. Take care and best regards, Denise

Tuesday & Thursday evening class combined

From Lisa & Stephen
I wanted to send you some pics of little Rocco Lukas and to let you know that I'm so happy we took your Hypnobirthing class. My labor was long - my water broke at 5:30 am on 1/18 and baby was born at 5:30 am on 1/19, and I think I was in the "pushing" phase for about 3 hours - but I really felt relaxed and calm the whole time. I was able to focus on my breathing and letting my body birth and Stephen was well-prepared to be a great companion. I can honestly tell people (and I have) that although my labor was at times difficult and a lot of hard-work, other than some back labor near the end, it wasn't painful at all. I definitely feel that going into the experience with positive thoughts and the commitment to let my body do its work were the keys to success for my labor and I want to thank you for sharing the Hypnobirthing experience with me, Stephen and baby Rocco.Oh, and breastfeeding is going great! He was born at 7 lbs/20 inches and already weighed 8.2 lbs at his week exam - nothing to worry about there :)!With love, Lisa Fazio

Valentinah did not get the chance to graduate the Thursday evening class as she had given birth. She called me at 4:36am to let me know that her water had broken and what to do as she did not want to go to the hospital yet. I recommended for her to listen to her Rainbow Relaxation CD and to listen to what her body & baby are telling her. She went to the hospital at 7am and by 7:15am she gave birth.

May 2007 HypnoBirthing Class & Testimonials

Saturday morning class

Thursday evening class

Private class

From Jenn & Jon who took Saturday group class in May 2007

just wanted to send you a quick email....our little baby girl ended up arriving on her due date, believe it or not, on july 14th. her name is mika violet and she was 8 pounds 3 ounces, 20.5 inches. mika means beautiful summer in japanese. she's totally healthy and doing well. we're getting used to each other and getting in sync with breastfeeding. the hypnobirthing classes were very helpful for me. I went into labor thursday night sometime and was at home all day friday until about 9pm when we checked into the hospital. at home, I was able to do laundry and clean the house. it was very peaceful. when we got to the hospital I was already between 5 & 6 cm. however, I was a little disappointed to find out that the midwife at the hospital wanted to monitor the baby's heartrate because it was a little low. once that happened and I couldn't move around freely, I was not able to manage the contractions in the same way. I did get an epidural after a couple of hours. but, in the end, both jon and I were so unbelievably happy to know our daughter came out healthy and perfect! just wanted to say thank you for your class and all the positive energy you put out there for all of us. we thoroughly enjoyed our time each week with you and learned some very valuable tools. I have had panic attacks for the past 10 years or so, and taking your class helped me manage my anxiety. during my pregnancy, when hormones were raging, I really found all of the relaxation techniques helped me to stay calm and I was able to enjoy being pregnant so much more. so, thank you, again for everything. you are great!

Thanks for the breathing techniques that pulled me through when I got induced that I didn't need any pain medications. Thanks again France for everything!

A couple of testimonials from January 2007 class

From Lisa & Charlie who took group classes in January 2007
"I started with feeling of pre-labor contractions. Feeling some tightness but nothing that I can't handle. Then, in the middle of the night, It got a little bit more intense. My husband read the labor scripts that France gave us in class and helped me relax. By 4:30am, I went to the bathroom and looked at the toilet but it seemed to be not urine. We called the midwife and went to the birthing center and was checked at 5:30am and was already at 9cm. My husband told me that when I was at Stage 2, I fell asleep. My midwives were all shocked to even witness someone like me to have fallen asleep during Stage 2 - the most intense moment for most women. Had change positions and when I got on the birthing chair, my baby just slipped out of me and we welcomed him into this world. Thanks France! I already have told a lot of people about HypnoBirthing and even thinking of becoming an Educator like France, and she gives me complete encouragement to do so as I had the most wonderful experience.Birthed baby 5 hours and 15 mins.

From April & James who took group classes in January 2007
A short birth story:6:09am - My water broke. Stayed home until I had the feeling of readiness that baby is coming. 8:00am - We went to Scripps Mercy and was at 7cm dilated12:30pm - Baby Corbin was born - All 100% natural - no epidural, no episiotomy, no pitocin/inducement.I did feel discomfort but everything went great! I have gained confidence of taking your HypnoBirthing class. Thanks!

From Tina & Robert who took group classes in January 2007
I had Savea on her due date, 03_09 at 7:45pm. I started having regular 5 min apart contractions at noon, and they progressed to 3 mins apart by 3:30pm. I went to the birth center then, and I was dilated to 5cm. They admitted me and I went into the tub right away. By 6:45pm, I was at 6 with a bulging bag, so we broke the bag at 7pm and immediately went to 8cm. By 7:25pm, I was complete and I started my birth breathing, I did push, but definitely breathed her out a lot. I did not tear or anything and she never went into distress. She had a strong heartbeat the tnire time and was very responsive. Her apgar is 9/10. She latched by 8pm. She is very healthy, and a very content little baby.We are so grateful for your class, and I will definitely take it again one day. Now I know what to expect, so it will be much more useful next time. Your class is awesome, and I have told everyone I know about it!

From Denise & Joe who took group classes in January 2007
I was feeling a lot of surges but was so minimal that I have slept through it. By 2pm, I felt like it was time for me to go to the birthing center as my water broke, feeling 2 intense contractions. I forgot my cell phone to call my midwife but when we got there, the staff got the room ready for us. I did not even get the chance to remove my pants and they baby came so quickly that by 3:20 we welcome Little Baby Joe on 03_02_07.

A couple of testimonials from 2006 class

From Susie & Oskar who took group classes in October of 2006
"Even though I ended up having a C-Section, Alda is such a wonderfully calm baby and I really think this is because of the hypnobirthing classes and daily rainbow relaxation meditations that I did. Also, now if she or I are a little worked up for some reason, I start going through my rainbow relaxation in my mind and it seems to help us both relax. I am so glad that we did hypnobirthing, even though in the actual labor I had trouble applying it like I imagined, I think it did help me be prepared for whatever would happen. I highly recommend hypnobirthing to every mother, no matter what type of birth you are planning. Fran, I'm so glad you are teaching this and thank you again."

From Kristen & Chris who took group classes in October 2006
"I went in the birth center on Jan 13 for a check with no signs of labor but I was at 3cm dilated. The next day, the 14th, I felt my surges at 2:45pm and it felt like it was still early on. On my way to the center, it seems like I was in transition but I barely felt the contractions. Even my mother-in-law is amazed at my emotional state. I got in and by 3:45pm, I was dilated to 9cm. I am very happy with the results I got from HypnoBirthing. My labor was so fast that my baby was born by 5:15pm. I am very pleased and I am grateful that I made the decision to use HypnoBirthing for the birth of my baby girl."

From Sue & Crespin who took a private class in July 2006
"HypnoBirthing really helped me relax and with France being there for me and my partner gave me more confidence for my birth. She gave us informational, emotional and physical support for 52 hours. She only left our side to give us some privacy and time to rest but she was with us the entire time. I am grateful for all the help and i am glad that we have chosen her as our HypnoBirthing Educator and as our Doula as well. Thanks France!"

From Erin & Jason who took group classes in December 2006
I've been meaning to send this for a while, after all, Josh is 2 weeks old today!! Yep, we had him EARLY!! One month early, to be exact, on Dec. 31 at 8:41 pm. He weighed in at 6 lbs 5 ozs and 19.5 inches. On Friday, the 29th, I noticed that I was a bit damp, so we went to L and D to get checked out, reassured, and sent home (I hadn't showered or eaten dinner yet, so I was in no way thinking I'd get admitted, although I did put my fully packed bag in the car!). Surprisingly, they said it was amniotic fluid, and admitted me. They induced me on Saturday morning, and I used my relaxation techniques up until midday Sunday, when they started increasing the pitocin at a crazy rate: every 20 minutes. Then I decided it was epidural time. I also hadn't dialated from Friday to Sunday morning any more...I was still 2 cms. After they reached up and popped my waterbag (apparently I had just a slow leak at the top, and there was a "forebag" near my cervix) and increased the pitocin, I really started dialating. I pushed for an hour and ten minutes, and into the world came Joshua Jason. I'm hoping that for my next baby I will be able to do it naturally, and with a lot more time to practice. I tried to do the rose visualization, but I hadn't practiced it yet, since it said to wait until you are month from your due date....oh well! Josh is here, and that's what matters!! We are loving being parents, and he's caught on to breastfeeding pretty well (it was touch and go for a while!!). We went to the pediatrician today, and he was supposed to have regained his birthweight and he did! I was very happy!! He's such a good, happy baby! Ok, enough rambling, I just wanted to fill you in."

From Jessica & Thomas who took group classes in October 2006
"We are really enjoying being a family with our little angel Atticus. I can't believe he will be 8 months old. Thank you again for your class. I am not sure if I told you but I barely felt like I was working and the midwife doubted I was in labor for the first 6 hours I was at home, because the surges felt like strong cramps and I was able to talk and breathe through them. When she finally said I could come in, she said to leave all our stuff in the car because we might go home again. When we arrived at the birth center, she couldn't believe I was 5cm open already! It was so great to have the HypnoBirthing skills at my fingertips! Thank you so much! Now I tell everyone how childbirth isn't really bad at all."
