I hope you are doing well. I have been meaning to email you...David and I had a very positive birth experience at Scripps Memorial, and we are so thrilled with our baby daughter, Olivia. We worked with Elien Alexander as our birth doula...she was such a nice presence and it was a wonderful treat that she could also do massage as well as the HypnoBirthing support. I had to be induced and so it was a little different experience, but we were focused on being flexible and that the health of our daughter would be the most important thing. The HypnoBirthing techniques were very helpful, and I think listening to the birth affirmations in the weeks prior to my labor and delivery was also very helpful. The birth ball was great, and since Olivia's birth holding her and bouncing with her on the ball is a sure way to calm her down. I lasted until 8cm and then chose to get an epidural. The birth experience was so profound, and David's touch was the first human tough Olivia ever felt. Olivia is a very calm and happy baby, and we love looking back at our positive experience. I hope everything went well with others in our class and also with your own birth. Take care and best regards, Denise

From Lisa & Stephen who took Thursday evening class
I wanted to send you some pics of little Rocco Lukas and to let you know that I'm so happy we took your Hypnobirthing class. My labor was long - my water broke at 5:30 am on 1/18 and baby was born at 5:30 am on 1/19, and I think I was in the "pushing" phase for about 3 hours - but I really felt relaxed and calm the whole time. I was able to focus on my breathing and letting my body birth and Stephen was well-prepared to be a great companion. I can honestly tell people (and I have) that although my labor was at times difficult and a lot of hard-work, other than some back labor near the end, it wasn't painful at all. I definitely feel that going into the experience with positive thoughts and the commitment to let my body do its work were the keys to success for my labor and I want to thank you for sharing the Hypnobirthing experience with me, Stephen and baby Rocco.Oh, and breastfeeding is going great! He was born at 7 lbs/20 inches and already weighed 8.2 lbs at his week exam - nothing to worry about there :)!With love, Lisa Fazio

A couple of testimonials from January 2007 class
"I started with feeling of pre-labor contractions. Feeling some tightness but nothing that I can't handle. Then, in the middle of the night, It got a little bit more intense. My husband read the labor scripts that France gave us in class and helped me relax. By 4:30am, I went to the bathroom and looked at the toilet but it seemed to be not urine. We called the midwife and went to the birthing center and was checked at 5:30am and was already at 9cm. My husband told me that when I was at Stage 2, I fell asleep. My midwives were all shocked to even witness someone like me to have fallen asleep during Stage 2 - the most intense moment for most women. Had change positions and when I got on the birthing chair, my baby just slipped out of me and we welcomed him into this world. Thanks France! I already have told a lot of people about HypnoBirthing and even thinking of becoming an Educator like France, and she gives me complete encouragement to do so as I had the most wonderful experience.Birthed baby 5 hours and 15 mins.

I had Savea on her due date, 03_09 at 7:45pm. I started having regular 5 min apart contractions at noon, and they progressed to 3 mins apart by 3:30pm. I went to the birth center then, and I was dilated to 5cm. They admitted me and I went into the tub right away. By 6:45pm, I was at 6 with a bulging bag, so we broke the bag at 7pm and immediately went to 8cm. By 7:25pm, I was complete and I started my birth breathing, I did push, but definitely breathed her out a lot. I did not tear or anything and she never went into distress. She had a strong heartbeat the tnire time and was very responsive. Her apgar is 9/10. She latched by 8pm. She is very healthy, and a very content little baby.We are so grateful for your class, and I will definitely take it again one day. Now I know what to expect, so it will be much more useful next time. Your class is awesome, and I have told everyone I know about it!

I was feeling a lot of surges but was so minimal that I have slept through it. By 2pm, I felt like it was time for me to go to the birthing center as my water broke, feeling 2 intense contractions. I forgot my cell phone to call my midwife but when we got there, the staff got the room ready for us. I did not even get the chance to remove my pants and they baby came so quickly that by 3:20 we welcome Little Baby Joe on 03_02_07.

A couple of testimonials from 2006 class
"Even though I ended up having a C-Section, Alda is such a wonderfully calm baby and I really think this is because of the hypnobirthing classes and daily rainbow relaxation meditations that I did. Also, now if she or I are a little worked up for some reason, I start going through my rainbow relaxation in my mind and it seems to help us both relax. I am so glad that we did hypnobirthing, even though in the actual labor I had trouble applying it like I imagined, I think it did help me be prepared for whatever would happen. I highly recommend hypnobirthing to every mother, no matter what type of birth you are planning. Fran, I'm so glad you are teaching this and thank you again."
From Kristen & Chris who took group classes in October 2006
"I went in the birth center on Jan 13 for a check with no signs of labor but I was at 3cm dilated. The next day, the 14th, I felt my surges at 2:45pm and it felt like it was still early on. On my way to the center, it seems like I was in transition but I barely felt the contractions. Even my mother-in-law is amazed at my emotional state. I got in and by 3:45pm, I was dilated to 9cm. I am very happy with the results I got from HypnoBirthing. My labor was so fast that my baby was born by 5:15pm. I am very pleased and I am grateful that I made the decision to use HypnoBirthing for the birth of my baby girl."
From Sue & Crespin who took a private class in July 2006
"HypnoBirthing really helped me relax and with France being there for me and my partner gave me more confidence for my birth. She gave us informational, emotional and physical support for 52 hours. She only left our side to give us some privacy and time to rest but she was with us the entire time. I am grateful for all the help and i am glad that we have chosen her as our HypnoBirthing Educator and as our Doula as well. Thanks France!"
From Erin & Jason who took group classes in December 2006
I've been meaning to send this for a while, after all, Josh is 2 weeks old today!! Yep, we had him EARLY!! One month early, to be exact, on Dec. 31 at 8:41 pm. He weighed in at 6 lbs 5 ozs and 19.5 inches. On Friday, the 29th, I noticed that I was a bit damp, so we went to L and D to get checked out, reassured, and sent home (I hadn't showered or eaten dinner yet, so I was in no way thinking I'd get admitted, although I did put my fully packed bag in the car!). Surprisingly, they said it was amniotic fluid, and admitted me. They induced me on Saturday morning, and I used my relaxation techniques up until midday Sunday, when they started increasing the pitocin at a crazy rate: every 20 minutes. Then I decided it was epidural time. I also hadn't dialated from Friday to Sunday morning any more...I was still 2 cms. After they reached up and popped my waterbag (apparently I had just a slow leak at the top, and there was a "forebag" near my cervix) and increased the pitocin, I really started dialating. I pushed for an hour and ten minutes, and into the world came Joshua Jason. I'm hoping that for my next baby I will be able to do it naturally, and with a lot more time to practice. I tried to do the rose visualization, but I hadn't practiced it yet, since it said to wait until you are month from your due date....oh well! Josh is here, and that's what matters!! We are loving being parents, and he's caught on to breastfeeding pretty well (it was touch and go for a while!!). We went to the pediatrician today, and he was supposed to have regained his birthweight and he did! I was very happy!! He's such a good, happy baby! Ok, enough rambling, I just wanted to fill you in."

"We are really enjoying being a family with our little angel Atticus. I can't believe he will be 8 months old. Thank you again for your class. I am not sure if I told you but I barely felt like I was working and the midwife doubted I was in labor for the first 6 hours I was at home, because the surges felt like strong cramps and I was able to talk and breathe through them. When she finally said I could come in, she said to leave all our stuff in the car because we might go home again. When we arrived at the birth center, she couldn't believe I was 5cm open already! It was so great to have the HypnoBirthing skills at my fingertips! Thank you so much! Now I tell everyone how childbirth isn't really bad at all."
